Starry Night. Adapting works of art (1ºC & 1ºD)

For the final task of the course we are going to do a drawing using all the things you have learned. 

We are going to draw our own version of Starry Night by Van Gogh.

For this we are going to think about what our nights will be like this summer, and we are going to imagine one that we like.

Camping, lying next to our tent, looking at the stars? At the beach with friends? In our house looking out the window at the starry sky? Think about it!

From here we are going to draw a version which takes a little inspiration from Van Gogh (but is not a copy of it).

So that we understand what an adaptation of a drawing consists of, we are going to look at the example by Equipo Crónica of Las Meninas by Velázquez. Look, here is the painting by Velázquez.

And now we are going to look at the version by Equipo Crónica (you can see more of their paintings HERE, I can tell you, they are very funny).

I think you can see that there are some elements which are similar to the original painting, and others which have changed a lot. Look at it carefully, it is a very fun version.

Well this is what you have to do. Think about which elements of Starry Night you feel like keeping, and which you would like to change. 

Look, for example, how the tobacco brand Camel was inspired by the same painting to make the cover for their cigarette packs: (smoking is bad for your health, don't do it).

Pay attention to how they worked as now we are going to do, they have kept some things but they have changed others.

HOW ARE WE GOING TO ORGANISE OURSELVES


First do a sketch in pencil, a plan for how you are going to adapt Van Gogh's night into your own night. You must dedicate a bit of time to thinking about it, but the drawing itself should not be elaborate.

Send me the sketch, we will talk about it, and after that you can begin the drawing. 

We are going to work on drawing paper (or what you have in your house), and it is freestyle (use the technique you feel like!)

It can be horizontal or vertical... it depends on your idea.

This is the final task: It must be in my email by the deadline of 5th of June.

La noche estrellada. Versionando obras de arte (1ºC y 1ºD) 

Para el último trabajo del curso vamos a hacer un dibujo que recopile todas las cosas que habéis aprendido.

Vamos a dibujar nuestra propia versión de la Noche Estrellada de Van Gogh.

Para ello vamos a pensar en cómo van a ser nuestras noches este verano, y nos vamos a imaginar una que nos apetezca.

¿De camping, tumbados junto a nuestra tienda mirando las estrellas? ¿En la playa con amigos? ¿En nuestra casa mirando por la ventana el cielo estrellado? ... ¡Pensadlo!

A partir de ahí vamos a dibujar una versión que se puede inspirar un poco en la de Van Gogh (pero no se trata de copiarlo)

Para que entendamos en qué consiste dibujar una versión, vamos a mirar la que hizo el Equipo Crónica de las Meninas de Velázquez. Mirad, éste es el cuadro de Velázquez.

Y ahora vamos a ver la del Equipo Crónica (puedes ver más cuadros suyos AQUÍ, te lo aconsejo, son muy divertidos)

Creo que podéis ver que hay elementos parecidos a los del cuadro original, y otros que han cambiado mucho. Miradlo despacito, es una versión muy divertida.

Pues eso es lo que tenéis que hacer. Pensad qué elementos de la Noche Estrellada os apetece que se queden, y cuáles queréis cambiar.

Mirad, por ejemplo, cómo se inspiró en el mismo cuadro la marca de tabaco Camel para hacer la cubierta de sus cajetillas: (fumar es malo para la salud, no lo hagáis)

Fijaos en que trabajan como vamos a hacer nosotros, se han quedado con algunas cosas, pero han cambiado otras.

CÓMO VAMOS A ORGANIZARNOS

Primero haces un boceto a lápiz, un esquema de cómo vas a adaptar la noche de Van Gogh a tu propia noche. Hay que dedicarle un ratito a pensarlo, pero no es un dibujo elaborado.

Me envías el boceto, hablamos, y a partir de ahí empezamos el dibujo.

Vamos a trabajar en papel de dibujo (o lo que tengas por casa), y técnica libre (¡la que os apetezca!)

Formato horizontal o vertical... depende de vuestra idea

Es el último dibujo: Tiene que estar en mi correo el 5 de junio como fecha tope.
